Wilhelm the First Tales from Cancer Research
On behalf of the Wilhelm Sander Foundation, one of the most prestigious private research foundations in the German-speaking area, Büro Alba helped develop and design the new magazine WILHELM. The goal was to raise public awareness of the foundation’s grant-making activities.
Visibility that builds trust
To mark the foundation’s 50th anniversary, the first issue looks back on half a century of research funding and looks ahead into the future of science. The magazine is targeted at experts and donors, as well as the interested general public.
Since WILHELM will be published on an annual basis, the foundation now has a recurring occasion to stay in touch with donors and partners and to attract new ones.
Complex Research Presented in a Clear Format
Typography and visual hierarchies guide readers smoothly through the content. Those who just skim the magazine will still grasp the key messages. Those who want to know more can delve deeper. Portraits introduce the people behind the research, and infographics illustrate concepts that are difficult to explain in words alone.
Print and Web from a Single Source
In addition to the print edition, WILHELM is published digitally on the foundation’s website. There, the magazine remains permanently accessible and, thanks to its English version, also reaches the international research community. The design carries over to the digital format, featuring generous image spaces and interactive elements that work just as well on a smartphone as they do on a desktop.
