The International Youth Library (IJB) was founded in 1949 by journalist and Jewish exile Jella Lepman as a reeducation project. It is the world's first library for international children's and youth literature. Jella Lepman aimed to build bridges to the world with children's books and thus contribute to a peaceful, free and democratic future.

Seither wurde die IJB kontinuierlich zu einer international anerkannten kulturellen Einrichtung ausgebaut. Sie dient einerseits als Archiv für die kostbaren, weil einzigartigen Sammlungen und andererseits als Ort der Begegnung und des internationalen Austausches sowie der kulturellen Bildung von Kindern und Jugendlichen.

To do justice to this complex range, the IJB was supposed to have a website that provides access quickly and as barrier-free as possible to the event offerings and catalogue of this specialised library.

Büro Alba has developed a design that allows for easy access to the content with clear and simple navigation and layout - for adults as well as for children and teenagers. Events and exhibitions can be quickly found, and there is direct access to the library's catalogue.
