Literature does something to your mind
Every year, Munich celebrates a three-week-long literary festival with readings, the Bücherschau (book show), curated author programs, children and youth events, emerging young authors, and independent publishers.
Task
Under the umbrella of the Literary Festival, the program areas "Forum" (until 2021 forum:autoren), the "Münchner Bücherschau," the "Münchner Schiene," and the festival program of the Literaturhaus come together with the market of independent publishers called "Andere Bücher" (Other Books). These programs cater to different target groups and focus on various themes.
Result
In 2012, Büro Alba developed the visual identity for the Literaturfest München (Munich Literary Festival). The design concept follows the idea that literature triggers something in people's minds. It entertains, informs, and transports them to different worlds. That's why the central element of the festival’s key visual is the head. The logo, which symbolizes an open book in abstract form, covers the eyes of the protagonist. This denies the viewer a glimpse into the eyes and thus into the emotional world of the depicted person.

The festival program caters to a diverse range of target groups, including young and old, avid readers, and beginners. The clear structure of the posters and the overarching conceptual idea create a high level of recognition, allowing for stylistic variations in the execution of the motifs.
