Entertain to Explain - Science Communication in over 150 TV Episodes
The Science Busters made it their mission to communicate science to everyone at the highest level of performance, science, and humor. They have been successful in doing so for over 15 years. They perform their science cabaret shows in theaters throughout the German-speaking area and are present on TV and radio. They have received the German Kleinkunstpreis (Cabaret Award) and the Salzburger Stier (Salzburg Bull) for their cabaret program. Their books "Gedankenlesen durch Schneckenstreicheln" (Mind Reading through Snail Petting) and "Das Universum ist eine Scheißgegend" (The Universe is a Shitty Neighborhood) were awarded as knowledge books of the year.
Status
In 2011, the Science Busters were set to bring their stage shows to television. In their shows, they humorously explain scientific topics and connections, conduct experiments, explain statistics, research findings, infographics, etc.
A Planet of Their Own
Who could better describe the logo and the thoughts that went into its creation than Martin Puntigam himself?

Designsystem
The group of scientists, professors, and comedian Martin Puntigam needed a corporate design that would work across all media, especially in their stage shows and on TV. The biggest challenge was capturing and expressing the quirky Austrian humor visually.



This resulted in a unique visual language that provides a toolkit of elements for the VJ team accompanying the Science Busters in their shows and for the production company that accompanies the shows for TV broadcast. The visual language at the beginning of the shows was inspired by historical scientific illustrations.
Over the years, Büro Alba has continuously developed the design, as a result for example, the backgrounds of the current season are inspired by computer circuit boards. The color scheme has also evolved over the years from a minimalistic magenta/black to a vibrant color code. This is also due to the fact that the Science Busters constantly expand their scientific topics and their team.

Those who know nothing must believe everything.
Examples from the shows
Science is constantly evolving, and with each new show, new illustrations and elements are created. Since 2011, over 120 episodes of the show have been aired, and more than 50 live programs have been produced.




Büro Alba has illustrated six books published by Carl Hanser Verlag so far.
Starting from 2023, there is also a special program designed for children aged 9 and above.
